If you know the trends, then you are a better player than other when competing for a job. The college career center is your gateway to be in touch with reality that lies beyond your college gate while the job market changes every minute. So, do not ever let this opportunity go away from you.
The next most important thing is that you need to participate for career fairs organized by the career center and if possible, take part in organizing and administering it. This way, you will get to know many people in different companies and this alone will allow you to build a good network of contacts. Once you leave college, these contacts come handy for finding a better job. If you do market yourself in the right way at these career fairs, the companies will keep an eye on you until you graduate and will offer you the perfect job by the time you complete college.

So talk to your career guidance counselor about your plans and get them to help you out on interning at a good company. If you perform well, you can turn your internship to a full fledged job by the time you graduate!
